Last week I was delighted to be invited to give a presentation to the Armed Forces Covenant Partnership Group meeting at Standfast Barracks in Lancaster.

It was the first time I have joined this group meeting and I was immediately struck by the commitment of the various organisations and personnel around the room with one goal in mind, to improve the lives of our Armed Forces personnel transitioning back to civvy street.

We started the morning off with a minutes silence in tribute to the tragic loss of Sqn Leader Mark Long who was sadly killed when the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Spitfire plane he was flying, crashed into a field in Lincolnshire on 25th May. Our deepest condolences to his family and colleagues.

Flt Lt Chris Bishop from RAF Coningsby gave us an update on the planned celebrations for Armed Forces Day on Morecambe Promenade on Saturday 22nd June from 10am - 5pm.

Being ex-Forces, this is a celebration close to my heart but also my business partner Trish too. Her son has served in the Army Cadets for several years and hope's to join the regular Army next year, my son is in the RAF.

It was really good to hear from each of the groups present on Educational support, Housing, Employment and Health & Well-being. Did you know the NHS has signed a partnership agreement with the Armed Forces to prioritise the health and well-being of all military personnel once they have left the service?

I will post regular updates to keep you all informed on the support available. Our main focus is on careers and supporting personnel to understand and recognise their unique skill set. We conduct a series of assessments, including psychometric testing all aimed at understanding learning styles and aligning abilities to opportunities. We can signpost personnel to multiple contacts across all sectors of the business community, not just here in Lancashire but nationwide and globally.

It can be a challenge transitioning, but many military personnel can and do go onto leading fulfilling lives 'on the outside'. Contact us for further information. Certa Cito.
