An overview of the engineering sector

Engineers are the drivers of modern life, researching, designing, building and maintaining the infrastructures all around us. From our roads, cars and properties to ships, planes and explosives, the engineering sector puts the laws of science and technology into practice.

Engineers can be found in a whole host of organisations, from large construction and manufacturing firms to small consultancies that advise on areas such as agriculture or software. There are multiple Career pathways and study levels into Engineering.

 

If you want to study Engineering at Degree level you will need to study A-Levels. If you do not get the grades for University, contact your local College to explore alternative entry level pathways, which include:-

  • Introduction to Engineering

  • Level 1

  • Level 2

  • Level 3

  • T-Levels in Engineering and Manufacturing

There are multiple Career pathways into Engineering so don't worry if you do not get the grades at School! You can explore entry engineering pathways through your local College or apply direct to hiring firms. Many Engineering companies are willing to employ students straight from school and then support them to gain their qualifications.
